Progress continues at the Black Hills Industrial Center
February 23, 2024In September 2022, Dream Design International kicked off the Black Hills Industrial Center construction to improve the wage scale and boost the local economy by adding sustainable industries in this new manufacturing hub. Situated in the southeast corner of Rapid City, this expansive 700+ acre industrial site is strategically tailored to serve as an excellent location for manufacturing. The industrial center will feature:
- Reliable power with unparalleled capacity
- Newly installed, high-capacity utility infrastructure suitable for large manufacturing and tech industries
- On-site rail line for convenient transportation
- Proximity to the Heartland Expressway and I-90 for efficient connectivity
- Convenient access to the Rapid City Regional Airport
- Newly installed fiber for high-speed internet connectivity
Over the last year and a half, heavy equipment has transformed the site, moving a whopping 2+ million cubic yards of dirt. The Dream Design team will continue with the design phase, working on utility and road infrastructure.
So far, the team has successfully sold 130 acres to diverse businesses. Dream Design has also garnered interest from various industries looking to relocate to the Black Hills Industrial Center. These include:
- Technology Manufacturing
- Data Centers
- Value-added Agriculture Manufacturing
- Recycling Facilities
- Warehousing and Distribution
- Local and Regional Industrial Businesses
What’s next for the Black Hills Industrial Center?
Looking ahead, the Dream Design team is working hard to get the Black Hills Industrial Center site certified through Quest Site Solutions. This certification confirms the property is not just good but often better than what’s needed for industrial development. Achieving site certification involves documenting everything on the site – such as the land, transportation, utilities, and the environment. This process will be completed in the Spring of 2024. Once the site is certified, the Black Hills Industrial Center will be a top choice for company decision-makers as it gives businesses the confidence and information they need to set up shop in Rapid City.
Dream Design and its partners are committed to creating this opportunity for the Black Hills. “We want to create a future where more of our children and their children want to stay here because of the economic opportunities,” said Hani Shafai, president of Dream Design International.
