Northern Lights
April 24, 2015Northern Lights is a 240-acre mixed-used development combining single-family, multi-family, and commercial properties in Box Elder, South Dakota.
Dream Design International incorporated a traffic round-a-bout into the core of the community’s design. The constructed roundabout is a double lane controlling the intersection of an arterial and collector-grade street. Dream Design was responsible for all aspects of the roundabout design, including determining the optimum size, position, alignment, and arrangement of the approach legs.
Location
The Northern Lights development is located off Elk Vale Road on the edge of Rapid City and Box Elder near Watiki Indoor Waterpark and Black Hills State University-Rapid City.
In this development, homes are served with alley access: the garages are attached to the home but face the alley. As a result, homes have been able to construct front porches that open onto an unbroken sidewalk.
