Mike Stanley Named 2022 ASLA Fellow

December 21, 2022

Mike Stanley, Dream Design’s Director of Planning, is one of 27 landscape architects to be named to the Council of Fellows of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2022. Only 1,428 landscape architects have ever been elevated to the Council of Fellows in its 123 years of operation. Mike received a Nomination in Service by the Nebraska-Dakotas ASLA Chapter for 19 years of dedicated service and leadership to the advancement and public recognition of the profession.

Mike recently traveled to San Francisco for the investiture ceremony in November. ASLA says election to the Council of Fellows is among the highest honors the organization bestows on members and is based on their works, leadership/management, knowledge, and service.

“Every landscape architect helps shape their community for the better, and ASLA Fellows represent the most accomplished and respected professionals in their field,” said ASLA President Eugenia Martin. “Their exceptional contributions from coast to coast and internationally have helped advance equity, environmental sustainability and excellence in design and planning.”

Mike has been practicing landscape architecture in the Black Hills region for over 20 years. He has worked with a broad range of clients including developers, municipalities, school districts, the military, and civil engineers. As part of the Dream Design team, Michael develops and pushes the company’s design aesthetic and function to ensure designs are relevant and responsive to human and environmental pressures. In addition to being named an ASLA fellow, Mike has been recognized by the ASLA Nebraska-Dakotas Chapter for design and construction, by the Associated General Contractors of South Dakota for construction, and by the City of Rapid City for sustainable design.
