Progress continues on the VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic on the corner of Highway 16 and Catron Boulevard. The new VA clinic will replace an aging facility that is half the size of the future clinic. Services offered at the new VA clinic will include primary care, mental health care, physical therapy, audiology, pharmacy, lab services, and women’s care to meet the needs of the increasing female veteran population.
Major portions of the construction took place in 2022. By the summer, the interior framing was complete, the drop-off canopy was installed, and the inside of the building began to visually shape. In the fall, we began enclosing the building by installing windows, finishing the masonry, and adding metal panels to the exterior. By the time winter settled in, much of our work was focused on the interiors and a quarter of the space was nearing completion. Flag poles are in place, plants have been added, walls are painted, and cabinets are installed.
The construction of the building is more than 70% complete. The facility will be ready for patients this summer.
