State of South Dakota “One-Stop” Facility

100,000 square-foot building housing seven state agencies
in Rapid City, SD

The South Dakota State “One-Stop” Facility in Rapid City is a 100,000-square-foot building that holds seven state agencies, which previously had been located in various places across Rapid City. The goals of the project included providing more convenience to the public and creating a space to boost state employee recruitment, retention, and morale.

The One-Stop is H-shaped to maximize natural light throughout the building. Dream Design and its partners took the a less conventional approach by putting
offices along interior walls and maximizing window space in the collaborative workspaces where cubicles are located. It also includes special tailored features based on input from state agency leaders. The One-Stop has large exam rooms for the Department of Health, a garage and laundry facilities for Child Protective Services, sizable public meeting rooms for any department’s use, a hoteling station for the Department of Revenue, and a patio where state employees can gather.

The building broke ground in March 2021 and was completed in August of 2022.

The South Dakota State “One-Stop” Facility will contain offices for the Department of Health, Department of Social Services, Department of Revenue, Department of Human Services, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Bureau of Information Technology, and Bureau of Administration.
